  • Wind Effects on High Rise Buildings, Task Force Report Number 1. 1970.  Proceedings: Fire Protection of High Rise Buildings, Task Force Report Number 2. First Edition: September 1972, Second Edition: January 1975; [proceedings of the December 2 and 3, 1971 seminar; Chicago, Illinois]; 344 pp.; illustrated.  Strain Measurements in Rock-Socketed Cassions, Task Force Report Number 3. November 1972; 54 pp.; illustrated.

  • Proceedings: Mechanical/Electrical Systems for High Rise Buildings, Task Force Report Number 4. August 1973; [proceedings of May 8 and 9, 1973 seminar; Chicago, Illinois] 90 pp.; illustrations and B&W photographs; [published in cooperation with Actual Specifying Engineer Magazine].  The purpose of this seminar was to provide a forum for all persons in any way connected with the owning, development, design, construction, management and operation of high rise buildings with the fundamental considerations involved in application of 'state-of-the-art' mechanical and electrical systems to high rise buildings, and also to point up to the future. It included seminars on heating, ventilating and air conditioning; fire protection and smoke control; plumbing and waste control; electrical distribution and communications; and lighting. The general discussions at the end of each panel presentation introduces many valuable pointers to future trends into system design, energy conservation and value engineering.

  • High-Strength Concrete in Chicago High-Rise Buildings, Task Force Report Number 5. February 1977.  64 pp.; illustrated.

  • Proceedings: Seminar on the Chicago High Rise Code, Task Force Report Number 6. 1977; [proceedings of March 1976 seminar]; 90 pp.

  • Proceedings: Seminar on Energy Use and Management in High Rise Buildings: Part 1: New Construction, Task Force Report Number 7. June 1981; [proceedings of the June 4, 1981 seminar; Chicago, Illinois]; 230 pp.; illustrations and B&W photographs.

  • Proceedings: Seminar on Energy Use and Management in High Rise Buildings: Part 2: Retrofit, Task Force Report Number 8 < PART 1 > < PART 2 > PART 3 >. May 1982; [proceedings of the May 6 and 7, 1982 seminar, Chicago, Illinois]; 176 pp.; illustrations and B&W photographs.

  • History of Chicago Building Foundations: 1948-1983, Task Force Report Number 9. November 1984; 80 pp.; illustrations and B&W photographs.

  • Full Scale Load Test on Cassion Foundation, Task Force Report Number 10. October 1986; 38pp.; illustrations and B&W photographs.  Summary: An instrumented full scale load test on a belled caisson on hardpan is described. The maximized test load of 1270 ton, 30-inch shaft and 6-foot diameter bell is believed to be the heaviest known load test on soil. Strain guages and pressure cells were used to monitor stresses and strains in the caission during bell loading in an effort to determine at what pressure tension stresses become critical.

  • Fire Endurance of High Strength Concrete Slabs, Task Force Report Number 11. October 1987; 26pp.; illustrations and B&W photographs; [report prepared by Construction Technology Laboratories, Inc.; Skokie, Illinois].  Summary: With the increased use of high-strength concrete, concern has developed regarding performance of such when exposed to fire. More specifically, questions regarding the fire endurance of concrete containing silica fumes since a published report concluded that these concretes explode when subjected to elevated temperatures. This report presents the results of standard fire tests on concrete with and without silica fumes with normal compressive strengths of 9,000 and 14,000 psi.

  • Exterior Cladding on High Rise Buildings: Past Experience, Present Directions, Future Trends, Task Force Report Number 12. June 1990, [proceedings of the November 13 and 14, 1989 symposium]; 394 pp.; illustrations and B&W photographs.

  • The Rationale for the Use of Composite Concrete and Steel Design, Task Force Report Number 13 < PART 1> < PART 2 >.  June 1993 [proceedings of the October 8, 1992 seminar; Chicago, Illinois]; 122 pp.; illustrations and B&W photographs.

  • Indoor Air Quality by Design: A Seminar for the Architectural, Engineering and Interiors Communities, Task Force Report Number 14. September 1993, [proceedings of the October 1992 seminar; Chicago, Illinois]; 156pp.; illustrations and B&W photographs.

  • Seminar on the Recladding of the Amoco Building in Chicago, Illinois, Task Force Report Number 15. November 1995, [proceedings of the November 11, 1993 seminar; Chicago, Illinois]; 142pp.; illustrations and B&W photographs.

  • Seminar on the 1996 City of Chicago Maintenance of Exterior Walls and Enclosures Ordinance, Task Force Report Number 16. June 1996, [proceedings of the May 9, 1996 seminar; Chicago, Illinois]; 100 pp.; B&W photographs.  This publication was superceded by CCHRB Task Force Report Number 18, Seminar on the 2000 City of Chicago Maintenance of Exterior Walls and Enclosures Ordinance, due to revisions to the Ordinance.

  • History of Chicago High Rise Building Foundations: 1948-1998, Task Force Report Number 17. December 1998; 91 pp.; illustrations and B&W photographs.  This publication updates and supercedes CCHRB Task Force Report Number 9; History of Chicago Building Foundations: 1948-1983.

  • Superceded by Task Force Report Number 17: History of Chicago Building Foundations: 1948-1998.  Summary: Developments in foundation design and construction for high rise buildings in Chicago are described with particular emphasis on the post war period 1948-1983. The improvements in on-site testing techniques and collation of predictious and perferences that have led to significantly higher foundation design bearing pressure are documented. Soil and foundation related construction problems influencing design and construction procedures are illustrated with case histories.

  • Seminar on the 2000 City of Chicago Maintenance of Exterior Walls and Enclosures Ordinance, Task Force Report Number 18. January 2001, [proceedings of the January 17, 2001 seminar; Chicago, Illinois]; 90 pp.; color photographs.  This publication supercedes CCHRB Task Force Report Number 16, Seminar on the 1996 City of Chicago Maintenance of Exterior Walls and Enclosures Ordinance, due to revisions to the Ordinance.

  • Proceedings: Seminar on the New Requirements of the Chicago Façade Inspection Ordinance - 2008, Task Force Report Number 19.  March 20, 2008.  Presented by Chicago Committee on High Rise Buildings in cooperation with the City of Chicago Department of Buildings.  James R. Thompson Center, Chicago.
